Anthony proposed to me tonight! OMG I`m so excited! I can`t stop smiling! I`m such a Cheshire!

So you wanna know how it happened? WELL

Anthony had told me yesterday that we`d needed to go to his Mum`s place to drop off her credit card (Her and Ants share a card, and he`d upgraded it so that we could get free travel insurance). He said that I didn`t have time to go to the gym, because he had to go to the chiropractor before we were to be at his Mum`s for Chinese dinner.

We were in the car, boiling hot, and I asked Ants “why have you got your big jacket on?”
He said, “Coz I haven`t worn it for a while, and I felt like wearing it.”
I`m thinking “you`re a dope”while taking off my jersey.

We get to the chiropractor, and Ants goes in. He asked me to run off to the geek store for him and get some of his L5R stuff that should have come in. So I do that and meet him back at the chiropractor and then head to his Mum`s.

Kathy wasn`t there when we got there, so we went next door to the dairy to visit the owners. We told them all about our plans to visit USA and UK, and what we`ve been up to etc. and Kathy finally rang to tell us she was home. So we head over and have Chinese for dinner. Quite good stuff too, not too oily. We stayed at Kathy`s for a couple of hours, I was trying to fill in my English passport stuff, because I was going to get Kathy to sign it, but I couldn`t because it has to be signed by someone with a degree lol. Talk about toffee nosed! Anyway, around 9:15pm we decided we`d better get going coz we had to pack to go to Auckland tomorrow. We said our goodnights and jumped in the car, and started to drive towards home.

We got to the round-a-bout and Ants said “Ahh”¦ yeah, lets go this way”And he did a 180° around the round-a-bout and headed back towards the beach. I`d figured where we were going, but it was very unusual for Ants to take us down there, it`s usually me that suggests it, and it was getting a little cold and late. We did have to get home to pack.

We got out of the car, and started walking down the beach. There was a bloody cold wind, and Ants said “It`s a bit cold”, I replied “Now I wish I`d brought my jacket like you.”And I was quite jealous of the fact that he was warm and No, no, get that out of your mind. You cannot get your hopes up”. We walked down the beach and watched a young greyhound being taught to run. We got to the pier and we sat down at the end. Ants insisted that I sit on the water-edge side (his left side) and we sat for a moment, taking in the view; two teenagers playing near the water`s edge, and their friends must have been in the part setting off fireworks.

It was bloody cold, and Ants had his arm wrapped around me. I told him to undo his jacket so I could snuggle inside with him, and that was all very romantic (and warm!)

Ant`s and I started reminiscing about just before, and when we first started dating and how we went to that pier a bit to sit and chill. We talked about our when we first met, and how the instant he walked in the room, I knew he was going to be someone special to me. We then talked about how exciting it was going to be to go to England, and how that was a really big step for us to be going together.

“You`re the most important woman in my life”he said to me, and we snuggled. I had that rush of love that starts in your belly and makes your chest swell and “No, don`t get your hopes up”I kept thinking.

“So I hope you haven`t seen this coming”¦”and he got down in front of me, on one knee “Heidi, will you marry me?”

For a split second I thought, “I could say no, I could say something to stall him”¦”but in the end I decided on

“OMG yes!!!”And it came tumbling out of my mouth so fast that I couldn`t get them out properly. We kissed and kissed, and then I thought “hurry up and get that ring on my finger!”we kissed again, and then he finally put it on. All its sparkles. I was so excited and in love that I couldn`t stop kissing him.

We got back to the car and I was still buzzing. We went back to Kathy’s and I rushed in the door. She (of course) new exactly what had happened, and gave me a big hug and said “Oh goodiegoodiegoodiegoodiegoodiegoodiegoodiegoodiegoodiegoodiegoodiegood iegoodiegoodiegoodiegoodie” in true Kathy style.

The next mission was to ring my parents. I rang home, and Dad answered. I couldn’t say anything but giggle and breathe “he asked me!”
Dad replied, “is that you Hide? I can’t understand what you’re saying”
I said it again
“what’s wrong?Are you okay?”
I said it again
“nah, I can’t understand you”
I knew that Dad was joking and being a dick, so I summoned all my strengh and voice and growled as quick as I could “HE ASKED ME!”
“Oh, oh, is that’s what’s going on?”
I gave the phone to Ants who was standing beside me, and they had a little talk. Dad told Ants “oh, that’s given me a bit of a buzz”.

Mum was at country music club, so I tried to ring her over and over again. She was playing in the band though, so didn’t hear her phone
Next I rang Bambi to see if she was home. She was, and I told her that I was coming over. We jumped in the car and

went to Bambi’s. I raced up the path and casually took off my shoes trying to flash my new ring around. She didn’t look at it so I said “LOOK!” she kinda looked and was like “oh, congratulations” I was thinking, well, thanks for the excitement.

We went inside and sat down. She asked me “have you rung Kylie?”
“Oh no, I forgot!”
I called Kylie and said “Are you sitting down?”
“Yeah”
“I have some news….. Ants asked me to marry him!”
*shrieks* “Yay!! Congratulations!
Bambi “That’s what you were after, you needed to tell Kylie first before me”.
Kylie: “How did it happen?”
So I recounted the story to Kylie and Bambi at the same time.

We chatted a little more, then hung up. I tried ringing Mum again and finally she answered. I said the same thing to her
“Mum are you sitting down?” (me trying to sound serious)
“Hang on, let me just get off stage”… “Okay”
“Mum, Ants asked me to marry him!”
“Oh! Oh wow!!”
Mum was so stoked. Then she had to go because she needed to help someone set up their gear. I think she was really gutted that she couldn’t hear the story. She told me later than when she got back on stage she said “Sorry for the delay everyone, but I just got some wonderful news… my baby girl just got engaged”. And everybody at club (who mostly all know me) clapped and cheered. Hurrah!

Next we went to Lincoln’s place. On the way over I text everybody in my phone book, which didn’t take long because I still haven’t gotten everybodys numbers back from when my phone got fixed.
We rocked on up to Link’s, and went inside. Link glanced at my bling, then turned away.
I said “Hey, what was that? You totally saw it!” I so snapped him not saying anything lol. So he gave me a big hug and said “congratulations”
His flatmate was far more excited about the whole thing, and gave us a glass of wine when he found out that it had just happened.
We hung out for a while, and then time was pressing on, and we still had to get up early to pack for tomorrow. So after me stopping the boys from talking geek “Hey, it’s all about me!” and realising that Link will be in the states the same time as us and we should meet up, we left.

I was answering texts all the way home, which was pretty cool. We finally got to bed incredibly late, and I was so excited about what had happened, and about our trip tomorrow that I barely got any sleep.
