Auckland Picnics

After our late night last night, Ants and I were up early to have brunch with Brendan, Keri-Ann and Emily. They picked us up at 10:30 and I told them our exciting news; about Ants and I being engaged. They were very excited for us. While driving I gave Emily her birthday present; baby pink and hot pink coloured hair ties. Bear in mind that Emily has bright red hair
I don’t think that Mum was too impressed, but I thought the colours clashed wonderfully well. Em let me do her hair, which I was quite stoked about, as I didn’t think she’d let me because we don’t know each other very well.
We drove around to Mission Bay and found a park by the water. It was a beautiful sparkling day. We found a cute little cafe, and ordered brunch (which Ants and I used as lunch. I had pancakes, and Ants had pancakes with bacon. They did a good feed, but not a very good hot chocolate, which is nowhere as good as Wellington hot chocolates. We talked and ate, had cuddles with Em, and basked in the lovely sunshine. Once we’d finished eating Nick was on his way, so we got him a coffee and headed over to the playground.

After playing around the playground for a while, Bruk and KA had to head off and do some jobs. Nick dropped us off back in town, and then we headed up to Vegabond – a geekstore in Auckland. Ants said we’d only be an hour or so, but after a very long game of L5R and, and me doing some random shopping, and then I’d keep coming back to check on his progress. 4 hours later Ants was finished at Vegabond (with me pretty seething that we’d wasted the afternoon). We went back to the hotel and had a snooze before meeting up with John, his wife Yayoi, and Drew.
The three of them took us to Occidental, which is a Belgium bar. We had a huge feed, I ordered the metre long sausage (which was thin and long). It was really yum. The others ordered stews which also tasted bloody good. After much food and good conversation (mostly about engagement stories, and travelling through Europe), the we walked them back to their car.
We went back into town and decided we should play some TimeOut. We played air hockey (which Ampy won) and we took some photos in the photobooth. Man, those things are hard to do when you’ve got a timer! I was so pleased at how the one of us kissing turned out. Check out my bling!

After photos we headed back to the Casino. We didn’t stay long, just long enough to explore the other areas that we didn’t see last night. Then it was back to the hotel for bed. Justin tomorrow!
