Justin Baby!
Monday, 26th November 2007![]()
Today started late, with being able to get a bit of a sleep in, apart from where we were in the hotel we always heard the construction going on starting at 7am.
We rose slowly, got ready and started wandering around town. We went down the warf end first, stopping in at a card shop so Ants could see how much some of his cards were worth (heaps for some of them). Then we ended up down by the Viaduct and the Hilton. I took these photos down there – click for the full image
We did a bit of shopping, wandered around Auckland, brought some new thick ankle socks because the ones we had on weren’t protecting our feet very well, and we were sore! In between wandering around town, we would go back to the hotel and have a rest, mostly because our feet and legs were killing us.
Soon it was evening, and we had arranged to meet Leena and her friend at a restaurant before going to Justin (baby!). We had a lovely meal, and then marched down the road to the Vector Arena without Leena’s friend (she was running late). We got a good place in the cue, and waited for ages and ages for the doors to open. My legs were killing me from all the walking we’d done earlier in the day, and I wasn’t looking forward to standing all night. Finally the doors opened. Leena’s friend still wasn’t there, so we went ahead and got a good place, four people back from the barrier. Leena came in a little later, and found a place around further, which was closer to the stage, but not so near the catwalk. We decided to stay where we were, and I’m pretty sure we made the right choice.
I tell you what though, those Aucklanders are bitches when it comes to concerts! So much pushing and shoving, which is to be expected, but Ants and I each got chewed out for no reason! But at least we could give it back. The dumb thing was how many people didn’t know that there were two separate seating. So many people kept pushing us trying to get us to move forward – especially a group of drunk 18yo’s. They were all “We’re going to get to the front” and Ants and I (who were fed up with being pushed) both yelled “YOU ARE AT THE FRONT YOU DICK!” he’s like “No, I wanna get all the way up there” and then we explained to him that the barrier was 4 people in front of him, and he couldn’t get up to the stage etc etc, and that he had to tell his mates to stop pushing coz they couldn’t get any closer. Thankfully the concert was enjoyable after that because we stopped having to hold our ground.
Anyway, the concert was fantastic. Justin was awesome. He looked good, sang great, and as it was the last show of the tour, the whole crew were having fun and enjoying themselves. The lighting was very very effective, the only let down was the sound at the Vector which wasn’t top notch. I’m so glad we made the trip up to see him!
After the concert, our legs were really killing us. Ants and I carefully wandered back to the hotel. Lying down was one of the best things ever. My ears were ringing, but in that good buzzy way.
