Well now is the time for the year in review. I can’t believe how fast time is flown. This time last year Anthony and I were planning our engagement party, moving in with Anthony’s mother, and parting from our Elvis-cat, and lets not forget to mention basking in the NZ Summer sun. Thanks to rivet, (whose questions I have stolen) I am now writing this post;
1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
Moved to a new country: England
2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
To reduce my size – yes, somewhat
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
A few old workmates gave birth, Martina, Keane and Serene, my brother Brendan and wife Keri-Anne. Short answer: Yes, many.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No thankfully. My parents know a few that did though
5. What countries did you visit?
America, Netherlands (Amsterdam), France (Paris)
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A smaller body-size, my own place to live: perhaps a house in England, a new SLR camera, and a camcorder.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
16 & 17 May because that’s the day we left NZ and our families (also my Brendan’s birthday).
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
growing closer to Anthony
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not being able to happily live in this flat with others.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Got sick twice just before Amsterdam and Paris. Emotional injury? Having so much anger with living in this flat, and Anthony falling down the stairs was a big big scare (not to mention I’ve had to carry all our luggage on holidays! – oh well, he’s worth it)
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A ticket to Paris. 2nd and 3rd place go to an epilater, and a 1TB HDD.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Anthony for being at my side through this year.
My Mum and Dad who have had a few hardships this year and are still happy and bouncing around.
Amber for completing her degree. I’m so proud of her.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I won’t go into detail here.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Supporting Anthony and I for the move, and for living. We live of my money and save all of Anthony’s.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Travelling to countries far and wide.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
“Take me on a trip I’d like to see LA, Take me to Chicago, San Fransico Bay, I’d really like to, come visit with you, You’ll be my American Boi, American Boi…”

i. happier or hardened?: hardened

I spent the morning working from home. It was nice to not be in the school today and be able to concentrate on getting the policies typed up for work.
I did actually go to work at around 2:30pm lol.
While walking down the stairs of our apartment complex I was trying to figure out where I’d smelt a particular smell before. Then I realised the stairs and floors had been cleaned and scrubbed with costic soda – just like Dad uses at the cowshed.
It’s funny the things that remind you of home – most people would turn their noses up at the smell of costic soda!

I was coming home from after-school care today, and noticed that the Cherry trees were out in full bloom. It gave me such a shock to see how many of them there were around Karori, that I burst into tears, thinking that if my Nana and Pop were still alive, their Cherry tree would be blooming too.
Now this is what I called being a kid. Lots of fun, lots of mud. I remember playing on huge pile of dirt (when I say huge, I really mean huge) when the house was being built. It was the best extention of a sandpit anyone could ask for. Cars, dolls, water, boats you name it went down that hill. Roads, rivers, and slides were carved into the side. It’s amazing what can jog memories – I haven’t thought about my dirt mountain in many years.
